General
How do segments work with Shift?
Segments are not used with the Shift product. Instead of applying previously created segments, Shift schedules workers to a shift based on the job and location combination attached to their Worker's Profile.
Are there user permissions in Shift that can be used to restrict access?
Yes! Shift includes robust user permissions, which include restricting view and/or edit access. Learn more about Shift permissions in this article.
In regards to my company’s Shift attendance policy, if a worker is employed at multiple locations with differing attendance policies, which attendance status will be attached to the worker?
Attendance violations for all locations are saved to each employee's Worker Profile. When that employee reaches any of the attendance statuses tied to the locations on their profile, the employee will meet the attendance status, regardless of the locations where the shifts with attendance violations were completed.
Timesheets Table
My company already uses a different tracking tool. Do I have to use the Timesheets Table tracking tool?
While Shift has a native time tracking tool available to you via the Timesheets Table, you can work with the Fountain team to instead integrate with a third-party tool. Reach out to your Fountain Customer Success contact or [email protected] for assistance.
Why don't I see my timesheets for shifts that are scheduled for tomorrow?
Timesheets are only visible for published shifts that are scheduled to start within 30 minutes or less. If you need to view a published shift that is scheduled to start in more than 30 minutes, you can view and edit the shift via the Schedule page. Learn more about the Schedule page in this article.
What is the Needs Attention tab on the Timesheets Table screen?
The Needs Attention tab flags any shifts with attendance violations based on your company’s previously configured attendance policy. Once these attendance violations are reviewed and either confirmed or removed on the timesheet, that timesheet will automatically move from the Needs Attention tab to the Timesheets tab. The Timesheets tab will contain any timesheets without an attendance violation or timesheets that had a violation that were actioned (confirmed or removed). Learn more about Timesheets Table navigation in this article.
When I go to export a timesheet, it won’t let me. How do I fix this?
Only timesheets in the Approved status can be exported. Double-check to ensure the timesheet or timesheets you're trying to export all have the Approved status. Learn more about exporting timesheets in this article.
Schedule Page
How can I bulk assign workers to a shift?
To assign one worker to multiple shifts of the same role at once, click I want to in the Actions Toolbar at the bottom of the Schedule page and select Assign Multiple Shifts. Select the shifts on the calendar, then choose a worker from the Bulk Assign panel. Learn more in the Bulk Schedule Actions article.
How do I filter or search for specific shifts on the Schedule page?
Click Filters in the Actions Toolbar at the bottom of the Schedule page to open the Filters panel. You can filter the schedule by jobs, workers, shift times, and shift status, or use the smart search bar to type a plain-language description and let Fountain's AI automatically apply the relevant filters.
How can I create multiple shifts?
To create multiple shifts for the same role and location, use the “create multiple shifts” option by clicking +New towards the top right of the Schedule page. Detailed steps can be found in this article. If you need to create shifts across locations and roles, use Fountain’s Copilot icon. See question above.
Why can't I edit shifts in the past?
You can edit past shifts, but edits must be made on the Timesheets Table rather than the Schedule page. Learn more in this article.
What is a Shift tag?
Tags can be used to assign a specific value to a shift on the Schedule page. Tagged shifts can then be excluded from Demand scheduling status calculations, or they used to enhance your reporting.
