The Setup assistant is one checklist of your whole account setup, under Cue. Fountain drafts your setup from what you share, and each step records what Fountain configured, why, and who the step is waiting on.
You and your Fountain team then review the same steps in one place: you validate them, edit them, add your own and leave notes. Nothing goes live until you review it. The Setup assistant does not import data from another ATS or HRIS.
Limited Feature
This is currently a limited feature. Please contact your Fountain representative for more information.
Before You Start
Administrators, Onboarding & Configuration Admins and Standard Role users can review and change the checklist. Auditors can read it but not change it. Recruiters do not see it. For a custom role, an admin grants Can view the Setup Assistant or Can manage the Setup Assistant on the Roles page.
Open the Setup Assistant
Open Cue in the left navigation and select Setup assistant. Before Fountain drafts anything, the banner reads Draft your account, and each section shows placeholder steps waiting on Fountain.
Bring Your Data
The first step of the checklist is Bring your data. Select Bring my data in the banner to open it. It asks for two things.
Careers site. Enter your careers site address and select Add link. Enter the full address, like https://careers.yourcompany.com. If you don't have a careers site, select We don't have one.
Legal details. Select Add in settings to add your EIN in Settings > Company & EINs, which opens in a new tab. Back in the checklist, the card shows how many EINs you added, never the number itself. If you can't manage EINs, ask an admin to add yours.
Ask Fountain to Draft Your Account
At the bottom of the Bring your data panel, select Draft my account. The banner shows Draft requested, with your name and the time, and your Fountain team gets the request.
You can close the page. Once Fountain starts, the banner reads Fountain is drafting your account and steps appear in the checklist as they are drafted.
If nothing changes for 24 hours, the banner offers Send the request again.
If drafting stops before the end, the steps already drafted are kept. Select Request the draft again to finish.
Review the Checklist
Steps are grouped in six sections: Company & account, Product setup, Hiring experience, Access & operations, Integrations & compliance and Readiness. Each step shows its Current value, its Status and who it is Waiting on.
Filter the steps with the tabs All, Waiting for, Validated and Archived. The banner shows the share of your setup that is validated. Select the percentage to see how it is counted: validated steps divided by all steps that aren't archived, Bring your data included.
Select a step to open its details in a side panel.
Configured in Fountain shows the value Fountain set, with a link to the settings page where you can check it, when the step has one.
How this draft was made summarizes what Fountain found and changed. Select Read the full explanation for its sources and reasons.
A step tagged Needs review says what to check. Read it with care before you validate the step.
Validate, Edit or Add Steps
Change a step's status in the Status column to work through the checklist.
Validate a step: set its status to Validated. The step then shows who validated it and when.
Archive a step you don't need: set its status to Archived. It then appears only under the Archived tab.
Send a step back: set its status to Waiting for. A step waiting for someone needs a name in Waiting on, such as a person or a team.
To change a step, open it and select Edit. You can change its name, description, current value, section, status and who it is waiting on, then select Save step. To add a step of your own, such as a payroll cutover waiting on your IT team, select Add item.
Every step has a Shared note that anyone working on your setup can edit, your Fountain team included. The note saves when you click away from it, and shows who last edited it and when.
What to Know
Your changes are kept. Steps you validate, archive, edit or add stay as you left them.
Your Fountain team can update the draft. After a new call or new information, Fountain redrafts only the steps nobody validated, archived, edited or added.
Auditors have a read-only view. They see the checklist and the message You can view this setup. Ask an admin to make changes.
