Cue Credits & Billing

Updated yesterday

Always Free. Pay Only for Outcomes.

Cue is available to everyone on your team at no cost for help, guidance, and support. We believe you should only pay for results—not conversations. That’s why credits are only deducted when Cue successfully completes real work on your behalf — like running an analysis, updating records, or generating a report.\

The core promise

Ask questions freely

Guidance, how-to help, and explanations are always free

Explore without fear

Iterating, refining, and changing direction costs nothing

Pay only for outcomes

Credits are consumed only when Cue successfully completes real work

No surprises

Fixed prices per outcome type, visible in real time

No charges for failures

If Cue doesn’t complete a task, it costs nothing

How Credits Work

Cue uses an outcome-based pricing model — you pay for what gets done, not for how long it takes or how many steps are involved.

What’s always free

  • Asking “how do I…” or “what does this mean?”

  • Getting explanations, guidance, and recommendations

  • Exploring options and iterating on your approach

  • Any attempt that doesn’t complete successfully

What uses credits

Credits are consumed when Cue successfully completes a meaningful action — reading and analyzing your account data, creating or updating entities, running bulk operations, generating documents, and more.

A single Cue conversation can complete one or several tasks. Credits are deducted per task, once it’s done.

Credit Usage Example

Investigating a spike in rejections may complete two tasks — a diagnostic (6 credits) and a strategic plan (20 credits) — totaling 26 credits. You can always review the full breakdown in your credit history.

Credits per Task Notes

  • Support & Guidance is always free. Questions, explanations, and guidance never consume credits, regardless of how long the conversation runs.

  • You're only charged for successful outcomes. If Cue attempts a task and doesn't complete it, no credits are deducted.

  • Data volume may affect cost. For data and analysis tasks, credit usage may vary based on the number of records Cue processes — the more data analyzed, the higher the usage within the stated range.

  • Bulk operations are priced per operation, not per record. Whether Cue updates 10 or 10,000 entities, the credit cost is the same.

  • A single conversation can complete multiple tasks. Credits are deducted per completed task, so a conversation that produces several outcomes will reflect each separately in your credit history.

  • Credits never expire. Any unused balance rolls forward.

Credit Packs & Pricing

Understanding our credit system is simple: 1 credit is equivalent to $0.50.

You can purchase credits in tiered packs to suit your needs. Larger packs include bonus credits at no extra cost, providing better value for higher-volume users.

Access & Permissions

While Cue’s free support is available to everyone, the consumption of credits and the management of billing are governed by specific permissions. To configure these settings, navigate to SettingsRoles & Permissions and follow the same process used for other Fountain permissions.

Cue Access Controls

Cue strictly respects Fountain’s existing access controls. Permissions are additive, not overriding. For example, if a user has "Read-Only" access to a specific product in Fountain, they can use Cue to query that data, but they cannot use Cue to modify it—regardless of their credit or billing permissions.

Coming soon: Advanced Access Controls
Configurable access to consume credits — giving admins the ability to control which users can use Cue's advanced capabilities — will be available soon.

Managing Your Credits

Go to Settings → Credits & Billing to manage everything in one place.

Current balance

Your current credit balance is displayed at the top of the page. Your balance never goes below 0 — when it reaches 0, it simply stops. Top up at any time to continue using Cue's advanced features.

Purchase credits

Select from the available credit packs (5,000 / 15,500 / 55,000 / Custom) and complete your purchase. Larger packs include bonus credits.

Payment methods

Two payment methods are available:

  • Credit/debit card — save a card for one-click purchases and auto-recharge. Once saved, it remains on your account.

  • Pay by invoice — credits are added to your balance upfront, the same way a card payment works.

Your balance never goes below 0 with either method. Both support auto-recharge.

Auto-recharge

Auto-recharge works with both credit card and invoice billing. Set up automatic top-ups to ensure your account never runs low:

  • Auto-recharge amount: Choose the pack size to automatically purchase when balance drops

  • Trigger threshold: Set the credit balance level that triggers a recharge (e.g., when balance drops below 100 credits)

  • Monthly cap: Set a maximum auto-recharge limit per month to stay within budget

Billing notifications

Get email alerts to avoid service disruptions.

  • Balance drops below threshold: Receive a notification when your credit balance falls below a level you set

  • New credits purchased: Get a confirmation email each time credits are added to your account

Credit Usage Tracking

Every Cue outcome is logged with a full audit trail. Go to Settings → Credits & Billing and scroll to Credits Usage to see:

  • The action type and outcome category

  • A plain-language description of what Cue did

  • The date and time

  • Credits consumed

Disputing a Charge

If you believe a credit charge was incorrect, you can dispute it directly from the Credits & Billing page:

  1. Go to Settings → Credits & Billing → Credits Usage

  2. Find the charge you want to dispute

  3. Click the ⋯ (three dots) menu on that row

  4. Select Dispute

  5. Enter the reason for your dispute and submit

We’ll review your request and respond within 1 business day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I pay per message or question?

No. Conversations are always free. You pay only when Cue successfully completes meaningful work.

What if Cue tries something and it doesn’t work?

Failed or incomplete outcomes cost nothing.

Can I set a spending limit?

Yes. Use the monthly auto-recharge cap and billing notifications in Settings to stay in control of your spend.

Can I turn off credits for specific users?

Yes. Admins can enable or disable credit consumption per user in Settings → Roles & Permissions.

Is pricing per record for bulk operations?

No. Bulk operations have a fixed cost regardless of how many records are affected.

Can Cue access products or data a user doesn’t have permission to?

No. Cue always operates within the permissions the user already has in Fountain.

Where can I see what Cue did and what it cost?

Go to Settings → Credits & Billing → Credits Usage for a full audit log.

What happens if I run out of credits mid-conversation?

Your balance stops at 0 — it never goes negative. If you reach 0 mid-conversation, Cue completes what it's doing and advanced features pause until you top up. Free support — questions, guidance, and explanations — stays available at all times.
