Cue is Fountain's AI assistant. The Notion connector lets Cue read your Notion pages and databases and create new ones, so you can bring project context into a Cue conversation and turn that conversation into a Notion page without switching tools.
Everything Cue does in Notion happens through your own Notion account. Cue can only see what you can see, and it only acts when you ask it to.
Before you start
You need a Fountain account with Cue enabled.
You need a Notion account in your company's workspace.
If you do not see Skills & Connectors under Cue, connectors are not enabled for your account, contact your Fountain administrator.
What You Can Do
Search your workspace for a page, a database, or a comment
Read pages, databases, and the files attached to your pages, and summarize what they say
Create pages, including from the contents of a Cue conversation
Add a comment to a page
Create a page or a comment that carries a file from your conversation, so a report or a document Cue produced lands in Notion with it
Duplicate a page you already have
Create databases, folders, and views, so a request such as "build me a task tracker" is supported
Cue Creates, It Does Not Rewrite
Every change Cue makes in Notion adds something new. Ask it to create a page, a comment, or a copy rather than to change one that already exists.
Connect Notion
In Fountain, open Cue in the left navigation.
Select Skills & Connectors.
In the Connectors (MCP) section, find Notion and select Connect.
If you are not already signed in to Notion, sign in on Notion's own screen. You can use your email address, or Google, Microsoft, Apple, Passkey, or SSO.
Notion shows a Connect with Notion MCP screen. Under Select workspace, check that the workspace shown is the one you want to connect.
Read the permission list, then select the I recognize and trust this URL checkbox next to the redirect address.
Select Continue.
You are returned to Fountain, and the Notion card shows Connected with your workspace name beneath it.
Continue Stays Greyed Out Until You Confirm
Notion keeps Continue unavailable until the I recognize and trust this URL checkbox is selected. If the button looks inactive, that checkbox is the reason.
Try it!
Open a Cue chat and try:
"Find the hiring plan in Notion and summarize where it stands" or "Create a Notion page from this conversation".
Understand What You Are Granting
The permission screen lists what the connector will be able to do. Two items are worth reading closely.
Respect your page and database access and permissions. Cue is bound by your own Notion access, not given access of its own.
Take actions on your behalf, based on your access level. Anything Cue creates is created as you.
The screen also lists items that depend on a Notion AI plan, such as chatting with Custom Agents and searching across connected apps. Those are Notion's own features and are not part of what Cue uses the connector for.
Disconnect Notion
In Fountain, open Cue → Skills & Connectors.
Open the Your connectors tab.
On the Notion card, select Disconnect.
Disconnecting removes Cue's access immediately and deletes the stored connection. You can reconnect at any time.
What Cue Does Not Change
Content that already exists. Cue does not change, move, or delete a page, a database, or a comment that is already in your workspace.
Database structure and saved views. Cue does not change a database's properties, and it does not re-filter or hide the columns of a view your team shares.
Where Cue cannot complete an action, it says so rather than attempting a workaround.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Cue reach pages I do not have access to?
No. Cue uses your Notion permissions. It cannot open a page, a database, or a comment that you could not open yourself, and Notion refuses any request that falls outside your access.
Does Cue change pages that already exist?
No. Cue adds new pages, comments, copies, databases, folders, and views. It leaves everything already in your workspace as it is.
Can Cue put a report it generated into Notion?
Yes. Ask Cue to create a page or a comment carrying the file, and the file goes into Notion with it. You can also download the file from the conversation and add it to Notion yourself.
Who appears as the author of a page Cue creates?
You do. Cue acts as the person who connected the account, so pages and comments are attributed to you.
Do my teammates need to connect too?
Each person connects their own Notion account. Your connection is yours alone, and it does not give anyone else access.
How is my data handled?
Nothing is copied into Fountain in advance. Cue reads Notion at the moment a question or an action requires it. See Fountain's privacy policy for how Fountain processes your data.
