With Fountain's embedded integration, the applicant will complete the Yardstik intake process within an iFrame embedded in the Fountain Portal UI including providing consent and answering data collection questions. The information collected will be sent to Yardksitck to be processed and then sent back to Fountain with the status update and details which can be reviewed via Partner Details. This integration includes access to more robust Yardstik packages and capabilities like Identity Verification, Candidate Pay, and Yardstik Detect.

Obtaining a Yardstik Account
In order to enable Yardstik’s integration, you will need to create an account by completing this page on the Yardstik website. Already have a Yardstik account? Please skip to the next section of this article.
Set Up Yardstik Embedded Integration
Reach out to your CSM or [email protected] to enable this feature on your account. Once Yardkstick has been enabled for your account, follow the steps below:
Go to https://app.yardstik.com/.
On the Yardstik website, click on Developer Tools.
Click on Integrations.
Find Fountain and click on the plus icon.
Enable the Fountain integration by sliding the gray toggle to green.
Create an API Key by clicking on the Generate button. Copy your API Key. You will need this later.
Within Fountain, click on your initials icon in the top right corner. Then click Integrations in the dropdown.
Click on Screening in the left sidebar.
Click Connect to the right of Yardstik.
Paste your Yardstik API Key and type your Yardstik Account ID.
Click Save Changes.
Add the Yardstik Embedded Stage to Workflow
To add the Yardstik Embedded stage to your workflow, follow the steps below:
Log in to your Fountain account.
Choose the opening you want to add Yardstik to from the Openings page and select Edit Workflow.
Select Add Stage and Create New Stage to add the Yardstik stage into your workflow.
In the Create a New Stage window, type a title for the stage, select Yardstik Partner Stage from the Stage Type dropdown menu, and choose where you want to place the stage in your workflow. Then click Add Stage.
In the Yardstik Integration Stage section, select a Stage Option Type. The Stage Option Type dropdown will be pre-populated with packages based on your agreement.
Yardstik Statuses
In the table below, you can see the various statuses that will be visible in the Partner Details:
Status Title | Description |
Processing | The candidate has submitted their background check screening from the Fountain platform and it is in process with Yardstik |
Clear | Yardstik has completed the background check order and it was found to not have any disqualifying information |
Consider | Yardstik has completed the background check order. However, the report has come back with one or more violations that may disqualify the candidate. The user needs to review the report and decide if they will proceed or initiate an adverse action. |
Pre_Adverse Action | A user has decided that there are violations that could disqualify the candidate from employment. Once a report is in this status, the candidate will have a limited amount of time to respond before the report is either in the final adverse or proceed status. More details can be found on this page of Yardstik’s developer docs. |
Final_Adverse Action | The candidate's pre_adverse response time window has expired and they either didn't reply or didn't give enough evidence to cancel the adverse action. |
Yardstik Partner Stage Rules
You can create stage rules for applicants in the Yardstik stage based on the status or details.
To move applicants to Approved who have cleared their background check or to move applicants who receive a “consider” to On Hold, use the rule outlined below:
To move applicants who don’t pass their background check to Rejected, use the rule outlined below:
To move applicants forward in the application process after they provide consent, filled out the intake form, and submitted, use the rule outlined below:
Important Note
The applicant only receives direct communication from Yardstik when the background check report is completed. All other notifications are determined by workflows created in Fountain.
