Third-Party Provider
Please note that the instructions in this article pertain to a third-party provider and as such may not reflect all current settings. Should you have any questions or issues, please contact the third-party provider directly.

Persona is an identity verification provider. Fountain’s Persona integration is delivered via Fountain’s Partner API (PAPI), which allows a partner to integrate once and be reused across multiple customer accounts.

Get a Persona Account

To use the Persona integration in Fountain, you’ll need an account with Persona.

  1. Reach out to Persona to create an account and purchase/enable the verification package(s) you plan to use.

  2. Ask Persona for the credentials you’ll need to connect Persona to Fountain (for example, an API key and an account/organization identifier—names may vary by Persona package).

If you already have a Persona account, continue to the next section.

Set up the Persona Integration in Fountain

Some partner integrations must be enabled for your Fountain account before you can connect them.

  1. Reach out to your Fountain Customer Success team to enable Persona for your account.

  2. In Fountain, go to Company Settings → Integrations → Screening.

  3. Find Persona and click Connect.

  4. Enter the credentials provided by Persona (for example, API Key and Account ID).

  5. Click Save Changes.

Credentials warning
Please ensure you enter the correct credentials. Incorrect values can prevent the integration from connecting properly.

Add the Persona Stage to a Workflow

Once connected, you can add a Persona partner stage to an Opening’s workflow.

  1. Open the Opening and go to the Workflow editor.

  2. Click Add stage and select Persona Partner Stage.

  3. Configure the stage options as needed (available options may depend on what your Persona account supports).

What applicants experience

Applicant experience depends on how the partner flow is configured (for example, redirect vs embedded iFrame). In general:

  • When an applicant lands on the Persona Partner Stage, Fountain sends the applicant context to Persona.

  • The applicant may complete identity verification within Persona’s experience, then return to Fountain.

Persona Partner Stage Rules

Partner stage rules determine what happens after Persona completes (or fails to complete) verification.

  1. In the Persona Partner Stage, add a rule based on Persona results (Partner Status and/or Partner Detail).

  2. Choose the next stage the applicant should move to based on the outcome (e.g., Passed, Failed, or Needs review).

Partner Status vs Partner Detail (what they mean)

  • Partner Status is the primary “state” Persona sends back to Fountain for an applicant (commonly used for pass/fail/in-progress type logic).

  • Partner Detail is additional information Persona can send back (for example, reason codes or attributes) that can also be used in rules.

Important notes:

  • The exact status values and detail keys are defined by Persona’s integration configuration and/or package.

  • Partner Detail values can be dynamic; when creating rules, enter exact values as returned for your account.

Best Practice: Consider using a holding stage
If Persona results return asynchronously (not immediately when the applicant reaches the stage), consider using a Custom Stage with Rules as a holding stage while waiting for Persona to complete, then move applicants forward when the status updates.
